Quaker Oats #overnightsuccess

Lifestyle

Description

Good morning! How was breakfast? Did you get breakfast? I’m usually in such a rush in the morning that I don’t manage to eat anything myself until mid-morning when I’m already hangry and feel like I’ve run a marathon trying to get everyone ready and out the door. A few weeks ago I was invited to the Quaker Oats #overnightsuccess event at the Bite Me More kitchen and it wasn’t until I watched the Bite Me More sisters make them in front of me, that I realized just how easy it is. So, today I want to show you how to do it because there’s nothing better than waking up to a part of  breakfast already made and it’s so simple even the kiddos can do it. Rory was SO excited when I said she could cut up the banana with the butter knife all by herself. I just love her happy face here.

Today we made the Blueberry Banana Overnight Oats and I’ve included the recipe below, but HERE is a link to the Quaker Canada website where you can find so many more of these simple recipes that are ready to be put into mason jars for you to enjoy in the morning. As you look over the recipes you’ll also realize how easy it is to customize your overnight oats to use your favourite ingredients or whatever you have on hand. The basic formula is just to use your favourite Quaker Oats and add in any type of milk, yogurt or dairy substitute. Then mix in your favourite ingredients and put the jar into the fridge overnight so that the oats soak up the moisture. That’s it! If you’d like a crunchier texture then you can leave some ingredients out to add in the morning instead (the fruit, chocolate chips, seeds, nuts or anything else you’d like to add!)

At the event they had Marshmallow Oatmeal Cookie Sandwiches made with Quaker Oats too and they were just to die for. Making those are next up on my to-do list for sure. How ridiculous is that photo of me shoving food into my face at the event? Haha classic Amara. Well the desserts were just too good.

Blueberry Banana Overnight Oats

First we added a half cup of Quaker Large Flake Oats to a mason jar, and then we added a half cup of milk, and one teaspoon of vanilla extract. Cut up some banana and add it to the jar with a half cup of blueberries as well. You can add a tablespoon of honey to sweeten it and a teaspoon of chia seeds too if you’d like.

So easy and so delicious. I hope this makes your mornings just a little bit easier! XO
