Pulling together an all-white look

Women's Fashion

Description

Upper Canada Mall recently invited me to come in and pull together some all-white looks as part of their Get Gorgeous Sessions launched on their fashion and style blog. It was a great experience and so much fun to shop for the outfits because the stores are filled with white this time of year. You can watch my interview with Jennifer Kleinberg, Director of Marketing of Upper Canada Mall, at the link directly below. We chat about Lace + Braids and how to achieve the perfect all-white look this season!

There are no rules on how to pull off an all-white look but here are a few tips that will help. Try to play around with shapes – big and wide on top with a slim pant, or a more form-fitting top with a wider leg on the bottom. You can also try to add in points of interest with different textures to your monochromatic look- embroidery, eyelets, pleating, or mixing fabrics such as a silky camisole with a chunky knit shrug. Pay attention to the temperatures of your whites. Your whites don’t all have to be the same, but choose either warm whites with yellow undertones or cooler whites with blue undertones and stick with it. Finally, don’t feel the need to make every single article white. You can mix in accessories that are an accent colour and your overall look will still come off monochromatic if the majority of it is white. Try lots on and see what looks and feels the best.

LOOK ONE

This look has a romantic and bohemian feel and could work day or night. I love pairing looser layers on top with skinny bottoms and the embroidery in the tunic adds a great point of interest which is important in a monochromatic outfit. Brown accessories with an all white look is my favourite and this way you don’t run the risk of having your outfit starting to look gimmicky as you might if you were truly head-to-toe white.

Dune London Clutch – Town Shoes

Karsen by Vince Camuto – Town Shoes

LOOK TWO

I’ve been playing around with much more structured styles lately and loving minimal looks that focus on clean lines as this one does. The black accessories add to the effect because of their harsh contrast to the white. Such a powerful look.

LOOK THREE

Here is a laid-back layered look that I could live in this summer. I love how carefree it is and so easy to put together since the cropped sweater is already layered for you – win. And don’t be afraid to mix your accessory colour because they don’t have to match either.
